Your first electric car in Denmark

An electric car is just as easy to drive as a petrol car, but you refuel in a different way. So the first question is not which car to get. It is where you will charge it.

You charge where you park

Most EV drivers charge at home or at work, while the car is parked anyway. They only use rapid chargers on long trips. That is the cheapest and easiest way. You start the day with a full battery and never have to stop at a petrol station.

Where can you charge?

Your own driveway: install a home charger. That gives you the lowest price.
Flat or terraced house: ask your housing association or landlord about shared chargers.
No parking space: look for street chargers within walking distance and rapid chargers on your way.

Real-world range

Range is stated according to the WLTP standard, which is measured in mild conditions. Expect 10–20% less in mixed driving. At high motorway speeds and in winter it drops further. A car with 400 km of WLTP range typically does 300–350 km on the motorway in summer.

Charging speed matters on trips

In everyday use, it makes no difference how fast the car rapid charges. On long trips you notice it. A car that charges from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes takes shorter breaks than one that needs 45. Look at the 10–80% charging time, not just the peak kW.
