Driving an EV in Sweden and Norway

Norway is one of the best countries in the world to drive an electric car. In Sweden it is easy in the south, but chargers are further apart as you head north.

Norway

Norway has one of Europe's densest rapid-charging networks, even far from the cities. On the other hand, there are many hills and mountains. Uphill, the car uses a lot of power. Downhill, it gets some of it back. Keep a little extra in the battery when driving in the mountains.

Sweden

In southern Sweden there are rapid chargers along the main roads. In northern Sweden it can be a long way between chargers from town to town. Charge when you get the chance, and do not run the battery low. Road tolls, congestion tax and charging networks are covered in the guides on Norway and Sweden, and more networks in EV charging networks in Europe.

Good advice

Expect higher consumption in the cold and in the mountains.
Have an app or a charging card that works in both countries.
In winter: warm up the battery before rapid charging, and keep more in the battery.
